The coach, a native of Buenos Aires, has been training La Banda since 2014 in one of the most successful courses of the River Plate team. Since its arrival, River Plate has won two Argentine Cups (2016 and 2017), an Argentine Super Cup (2017), a South American Cup (2014), three South American Recopas (2015, 2016 and 2019), two Libertadores Cups (2015 and 2018) and a Suruga Cup (2015).If Ernesto Valverde does not redirect the course in the coming weeks, Barça could start talks with the Argentine coach, who still has a contract with River Plate until 2021, something that would not facilitate his departure from Argentina.
