Rafa Nadal and Feliciano López added two new titles for the Navy in Acapulco in a spectacular start to the year. The Spaniard was proclaimed champion in the individual draw of the Mexican tournament, while the Toledo conquered the title in doubles, teaming up with the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. In this way, there are already eight trophies conquered by Spaniards at the start of 2022 after the triumphs of Paula Badosa, Roberto Bautista, Albert Ramos and Carlos Alcaraz.

Spanish tennis is enjoying a great start to the season. In Acapulco two new titles with Spanish color have arrived: the title in the singles draw of Rafa Nadal and in the doubles with Feliciano López, forming a couple with the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas . Both join the other six already conquered: Paula Badosa in Sydney; Albert Ramos in Cordoba; Carlos Alcaraz in Rio; Roberto Bautista in Doha and Rafa Nadal at the ATP 250 in Melbourne and at the Australian Open.

Rafa Nadal was proclaimed champion of the Acapulco tournament for the fourth time, after beating Cameron Norrie 6-4 in the final. In this way, the Balearic extended his unbeaten record this season -15 wins in a row- and his third consecutive title to reach the 91 titles won throughout his career. But the man from Manacor was not the only Spaniard to lift the characteristic pear-shaped trophy on the last day of competition in Acapulco.

Feliciano López, who had received an invitation from the tournament to play the singles draw, emerged victorious in the doubles alongside Stefanos Tsitsipas. It was the second time that they competed together and they took the title in the final after beating the duo formed by the Salvadoran Marcelo Arévalo and the Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer (7-5 and 6-4), thus stopping the great streak of the couple, winner in Dallas and Delray Beach.
