Fernando Alonso is left without a boss in Alpine

Fernando Alonso will have a new boss. Alpine has announced the departure of its top manager to date, Pole Marcin Budkowski , who joined the team in 2018, when it was still racing under the Renault name, and rose to leadership following the departure of Cyril Abiteboul in 2020.

“I have really enjoyed being part of the leadership of Renault and then the Alpine F1 Team . I have worked with a group of very talented and dedicated people. I will fondly follow the team's progress in the coming seasons," Budkowski said in a statement.

Following the departure of the Pole, Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi will "temporarily" take over the management of the French team until the hiring of a new boss is announced. Otmar Szafnauer , who left Aston Martin last week, is the name that is sounding more strongly to fill that vacancy.

“I would like to thank Marcin Budkowski for his commitment and contribution to the team's results over the last four years. The team is fully focused on preparing the car for the first race in Bahrain and taking its performance a step further,” Rossi conveyed.
