Fewer vaccinations, increasing incidence

0

The corona incidence in Germany is rising again – and has been for more than two weeks. At the same time, the vaccination rate decreases. With a view to the Delta variant as well as autumn and winter, the concern is great.

Berlin – The incidence is increasing, the demand for vaccinations is falling: Chancellor Angela Merkel has put the population in the mood for a difficult time in the corona pandemic in view of the increasing number of infections.

At the same time, the CDU politician called for greater vaccination efforts today at what is expected to be the last summer press conference in Berlin. The countries are increasingly relying on flexible solutions in order to reach more people. With a view to autumn and winter, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) urges that preventive measures be taken in various areas.

Merkel told the capital’s journalists that Germany was dealing with “a clear and, in my opinion, worrying dynamic”. She also warned: “The more we are vaccinated, the freer we will be again.” The pandemic can only be overcome together. That is why people should also actively promote vaccinations in their private and working environment. Furthermore, it is a matter of preventing the health system from being overloaded. The prime ministerial conference on the pandemic planned for the end of August could be brought forward: You will not ignore requests from the heads of government of the countries, said Merkel.

The seven-day incidence has been rising continuously for over two weeks. According to information from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) this morning, it was 12.2 – the previous day the value was 11.4 and at the latest low on July 6, 4.9. This is evident from the numbers from the morning (as of the dashboard at 4:11 a.m.). Due to an estimated increase in corona cases in autumn and winter, the RKI calls for preventive measures in a strategy paper published on Thursday. In this way, serious illnesses, deaths and the burden on the health system should be kept to a minimum “and population-related measures should be minimized,” it says.

Flexible solutions for vaccination in the countries

According to a survey by the German Press Agency, the federal states now offer flexible vaccination solutions in order to attract more people to the protective spades. Interest in vaccination is waning in many places, and vaccination centers are being closed in some places. In addition, there are more and more mobile vaccination teams, and in many places people can get an injection without an appointment. “If the people do not come to the vaccinations, then the vaccinations have to come to the people,” emphasized Thuringia’s Minister of Health Heike Werner (Linke). “Whether a vaccination in the football stadium, mobile vaccination teams on market and supermarket squares or vaccinations without an appointment in the centers – all initiatives are welcome,” said Baden-Württemberg’s head of department, Manne Lucha (Greens).

Issuance of vaccination certificates in pharmacies stopped

Those who have already been vaccinated can currently no longer have corona vaccination certificates issued in pharmacies. The German Pharmacists’ Association (DAV) announced today that the issuing of certificates had been stopped in consultation with the Federal Ministry of Health. The “Handelsblatt” had therefore succeeded in creating a guest access for a non-existent pharmacy owner “with the help of professionally forged documents” on the DAV server, with which two vaccination certificates were then issued. Therefore, the registered sites are currently being checked. But so far there has been no evidence of other unauthorized access.

The “Handelsblatt” announced on request that it was correct that the newspaper had discovered a serious security gap in the creation of digital vaccination records. “However, the” Handelsblatt “itself did not gain access to the system; two IT security specialists have disclosed the vulnerability and thus demonstrated that there are significant deficiencies in the portal, ”said a publisher’s spokeswoman.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of corona vaccination doses are to be delivered to the flood areas. A spokeswoman said today that the Federal Ministry of Health has offered the affected countries additional vaccine. In this way, low-threshold vaccination offers could be made on site. dpa
