Following his election as FIA president last December, Mohammed Ben Sulayem set out a plan to overhaul much of the organisation’s management structure, as well as seeking a new governance structure.
One of Ben Sulayem ‘s plans was to appoint a director general for the first time in the history of the FIA, and for this he created a working group in the first months of the year.
On Thursday, the FIA announced that Robyn will join “in the near future” to take on the role of managing director.
Robyn, former General Manager of Volvo in Switzerland, has more than 15 years of experience in the automotive industry, as well as holding management positions at Nissan and DaimlerChrysler.
According to the FIA, Robyn “will be responsible for the smooth running and financial performance of a comprehensive FIA, as well as driving the federation’s proposed reform strategy.”
“Natalie will also develop further business growth plans to increase and diversify the FIA’s revenue streams, ensuring financial stability so that we can provide more resources to our members,” the statement added.

“I am delighted to be appointed as the FIA’s first Director General at such an important and exciting time for the Federation,” said Robyn.
“I look forward to working with the various members, the management team and the President to realize his vision for reform and growth, with the participation of all staff.”
Ben Sulayem called Robyn’s appointment a “transformational moment for our federation.” “His leadership and extensive experience will be crucial to improving our finances, our government and our operations,” he said.
“He has a wealth of demonstrable experience in diversification and growth, as well as developing leadership skills, which will be an extremely valuable asset to the FIA and our members.”
