Flying motorcycles are no longer science fiction

Flying cars and their version on two wheels are vehicles that humans have been dreaming of for a long time; and science fiction literature and cinema have been able to capture that desire very well. All of us who have ever imagined riding the powerful Speeder bike from Star Wars , literally flying over the asphalt, we are a little closer to making our dream come true thanks to the start up Hoversurf and its Scorpion-3.

It is a prototype single-seat aircraft that combines the design of a standard motorcycle with the technology of a drone , as it soars into the air powered by four propellers – which provides both professional and amateur pilots , great flight stability.

It is equipped with a safety system operated by state-of-the-art flight controllers, with computer-assisted speed and altitude limitation to prevent accidents. In this sense, it can reach almost 50 km / h in speed and a height of about 10 meters . It also has autonomy to stay in the air for approximately 27 minutes.

Its engineers have sought to provide the vehicle with maneuverability and, for this, the crew member has control of the machine: they can surf the skies by varying the altitude and direction with the controls .

The company explains that, today, perhaps the Scorpion-3 is seen more as an instrument for extreme sports than as a means of transport, but its potential in this regard is “evident”, they point out. Its price will be about 150,000 dollars (approximately 142.00 euros).
