For the first time, Pemex exports a shipment of crude oil from a private company

The commercial arm of state-owned Pemex exported the first shipment of oil produced in a field awarded to a private company during the energy reform rounds.

PMI Comercio Internacional, a subsidiary of Pemex and the body appointed by the regulator to sell oil and gas produced by private parties, sent in mid-October a shipment of 500,000 barrels of crude oil produced in the Amoca, Miztón and Tecoalli fields, awarded to the Italian ENI in a 2015 round, according to sources consulted by Expansión .

The shipment of crude would have been destined for Spain and bought by the multinational Repsol , the sources specified. This information coincides with a document seen by this publishing house.

The Italian multinational has already exported shipments of crude oil from the complex located in the Sonda de Campeche since last April, after facing a series of regulatory delays.

ENI was made in 2015 from a shared production contract with the Mexican State. The agreement stipulates that the private company can export part of the oil produced in the asset without state intervention and another part can be marketed by the national oil company.

The Italian company was consulted but declined to comment. The Pemex communication office did not respond to a request.

ENI is for now the largest private oil producer in the country, according to records from the National Hydrocarbons Commission. The company reported in September an average production of 26,000 barrels per day. To dimension, the Italian contributes 23% of the total private production that closed last month above 113,000 barrels per day.

In April, the company became the first private company to export its production. Also in June 2019, it was the first international company to produce hydrocarbons from the Mexican subsoil.
