After the devastating forest fire in the hinterland of the Costa Blanca, calls for more fire protection and prevention in Spain are getting louder. Details are in this article:

Vall d’Ebo – It was a natural disaster that has never happened here before. The devastating forest fire in the hinterland of the Costa Blanca left a black lunar landscape in August over an area of 12,150 hectares. The last fire was only seven years ago, was also a natural disaster at the time, but was nowhere near the extent of the most recent fire. Between the two fires, much was also done by volunteers to prevent another disaster, reports costanews.com.

The measures were effective, but, as has now become apparent, only a drop in the ocean. Those affected are demanding more fire protection and prevention. The housing estates that are so widespread in holiday regions in Spain are also at risk and urgently need self-protection plans.
