Max Verstappen remains at the top of the Formula 1 World Championship classification despite having to abandon the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with five laps remaining when he was stroking victory. Ambitious as usual, Lewis Hamilton went to the victory trying to overtake Sergio Pérez on the highlight and ended up going off the track. This has led to him finishing fifteenth outside the points zone. Thus, Sergio Pérez took the victory in Baku and Sebastian Vettel and Pierre Gasly took the podium with him, finishing second and third respectively.

While there have been no major changes in the drivers ‘world standings, in the Constructors’ standings Red Bull is even more of the leader after Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas were left out of the points zone in Azerbaijan. Ferrari , meanwhile, climbs a position and is already third ahead of McLaren .

In a sprint race of just one lap, Fernando Alonso was another of the winners. He started tenth and finished sixth. Carlos Sainz , for his part, was eighth. Leclerc , Madrid’s teammate, finished fourth ahead of Lando Norris . Tsunoda was seventh and Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Raikkonen, ninth and tenth respectively.
