Die neue Formel-1-Saison steht in den Satrtlöchern.

RTL only has limited broadcasting rights to Formula 1, but the Austrian broadcasters Servus TV and ORF show the entire F1 season live free of charge. SPOX tells you how you can receive the two neighboring country channels.

Formula 1: How do I receive ServusTV and ORF in Germany?

Last season, after 30 years, RTL said goodbye to Formula 1. The Cologne-based private broadcaster will only be broadcasting four races (in Imola, Barcelona, Monza, Sao Paulo) this year thanks to an agreement with Sky. The pay TV broadcaster has an exclusive partnership in Germany and shows all sessions live in full on the newly launched channel Sky Sport F1. The same applies to the livestream offers via SkyGo and SkyTicket .

Nevertheless, Austrian Formula 1 fans have the opportunity to watch all Formula 1 races live this season free of charge. The Austrian broadcasters ORF and ServusTV, which will broadcast the race weekend in Bahrain , will each show twelve Grand Prix live. Both channels also have the Spielberg Grand Prix in their programs.

In Germany, Servus TV can be accessed at any time with cable connection, DVB-T2 and satellite (Astra 19.2 ° East on the frequency 12.663 MHz) . You can also access a free live stream on the ServusTV website. Right this way. The problem with this is that geo-blocking has been set for the broadcasts of the races. German viewers do not see the Formula 1 races either on TV or in the live stream.

On the other hand, it is more difficult to access ORF in Germany. If you live in areas near the border, you can receive the station terrestrially or by cable – otherwise you normally have no chance of a TV broadcast. However, the signal is encrypted via satellite.

In the ORF live stream, only a few offers can also be used in Germany, but the block can be legally lifted. To do this, you need a VPN connection to Austria, as the content is only activated for Austrian IP addresses. The same applies if you want to call up the live stream from ServusTV.

The advantage: There are numerous free VPN software for the PC, smartphones or your tablet that you can download for free.
