Istanbul – Four people died in Istanbul in the wake of a violent storm. This was announced by the Istanbul governor’s office in the early evening. A woman was killed by a falling roof, reported the state broadcaster TRT on Monday.

House damage and accidents have also been reported from many other parts of Turkey. According to the state-affiliated news agency Demirören Haber Ajansi, an aircraft on the way from Trabzon in the northeast to Bursa in the west had to land in Ankara.

The Turkish weather service warned on Monday of heavy rains and winds with a force of up to 100 kilometers per hour in western and central Turkey. dpa
