“Funeral service” for “SS-Siggi” in Dortmund – the police are preparing for the Nazi march

The Dortmund neo-Nazi Siegfried Borchardt is dead. His funeral could attract right-wing extremists from all over Germany.

Update from Tuesday, October 5th, 2021, 3:49 pm: The death of Siegfried Borchardt, known in right-wing extremist circles as “SS-Siggi”, evidently mobilized numerous neo-Nazis. As several activists report on Twitter, a “funeral service” is planned for Saturday (October 9th, 2021) in Dortmund. The event starts at 2 p.m. at the main train station. The plan was to march to Borchardt’s last house to lay wreaths and pictures, according to an announcement.

The Dortmund police are currently preparing for the operation. As a spokeswoman for the FR said, an event had been registered for Saturday. It is still unclear whether there will be a counter-demonstration in Dortmund.

First report from Monday, October 4th, 2021, 9:00 a.m .: Dortmund – Siegfried Borchardt is dead. The neo-Nazi from Dortmund known as “SS-Siggi” was 67 years old. The right-wing extremist party “The Rights” announced on Sunday on its website. The announcement states that Borchardt died after a short stay in a hospital.

Borchardt gained national fame through membership in numerous neo-Nazi groups. Among other things, he founded the group “Borussenfront” in 1982. Borchardt was also involved in the founding and organization of several right-wing extremist groups in North Rhine-Westphalia. Borchardt received his nickname “SS-Siggi” after serving a prison sentence in the 1980s. He had previously been convicted of assault and vandalism. He also took part in several acts of violence that killed people with a migration background.

“SS-Siggi” was not only activist, but also politically active: In 2014 he entered the city council of Dortmund for the right-wing extremist party “Dierechte”, which sparked protests. However, he announced his resignation two months later – for health reasons. Borchardt has now passed away.
