The Williams team has unveiled its new car for the 2022 Formula 1 season, the FW44, the first since the passing of its founder, Sir Frank Williams . This will be the first British car under the new regulations at the Grand Circus, which seeks to increase the number of overtaking and battles on track.

The Grove team was the last to announce the presentation date of its car, although it left some clues about what the decoration could be like one day before showing it to the world. After signing a sponsorship contract with Duracell, a company known for energy batteries, he published a photo on his social networks where part of the car could be seen.

However, it was not until after 2:00 p.m. in Spanish peninsular time when we discovered the design of the English single-seater. Williams will have a new driver in the 2022 Formula 1 season, Alex Albon , who returns to the top flight after spending a year developing Red Bull and participating in the DTM.

The Anglo-Thai will be in his third season in Formula 1, and has the experience of having been on the podium twice, all with the energy drinks package in 2020. Albon will be looking to make amends to show that he never should have left and that he deserves a seat in the select grill.

Across the garage will be Nicholas Latifi, who even suffered death threats after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Canadian caused an accident in the final laps of the race in which the title was decided between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, something that benefited the Dutchman and made him take the championship.

After a few weeks in which he acknowledged having had a bad personal moment, he was renewed and with enough strength to face his third campaign in the Great Circus, seeking to improve the 17th position he achieved in 2021.

It is still unknown if Williams will put the FW44 on the track before the start of the pre-season tests in Barcelona, which will begin on February 23. Some teams have already filmed with their 2022 single-seaters, such as Aston Martin at Silverstone and Alfa Romeo at Fiorano, taking advantage of one of the two filming days available to them by regulation.
