A day and a half later than initially scheduled, Ferrari finally kicked off its particular preseason with a private test session at the Fiorano circuit.

The team originally wanted the test to have started earlier, but confusion over changing sporting regulations thwarted their plans. Initially, the Maranello team said that they would use the SF21 from last season, but apparently no article of the regulation seems to authorize it at the moment, a fact for which they were forced to seek a different solution while waiting for clarifications by part of the FIA .

After that, Ferrari opted for the SF71H from the 2018 season, a car that they had previously used for this type of private test. In this way, the pilots will be able to begin to recover a little those sensations that you have when you are on the track.

Finally, the single-seater was able to take to the track this Wednesday afternoon, dressed in number 29 and with Robert Shwartzman at the wheel, a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy who will be a test driver in Maranello this season.

Due to the delay suffered, the test day on Thursday will be divided between the two regular drivers, Carlos Sainz will get on the SF71H in the morning and Charles Leclerc in the afternoon, contrary to what had been initially scheduled, where both should enjoy a full time to work with engineers and refine procedures.

The last day of testing, on Friday, will again be entirely dedicated to Robert Shwartzman , who will once again drive the red car and close a test that has already become a tradition.

This is not the first time for the Russian driver, as he took his first laps aboard this same car just a year ago at the same Fiorano circuit in the context of a similar test session that had also been organized by Ferrari .
