Gallery: the incredible photos of MotoGP's return to Australia

After three years of absence, the MotoGP paddock has been able to travel to the legendary Phillip Island track to compete again in the Australian Grand Prix. The event, very special due to the characteristics of the circuit and, why deny it, the untimely schedules, had not been held since 2019 due to the restrictions derived from the coronavirus.

This implies that practically all the pilots had somewhat forgotten the peculiarities of the island track . In addition, another important part does not know what it is like to ride in Phillip Island with a MotoGP (this is the case of names like Fabio Di Giannantonio, Enea Bastianini, Darryn Binder, Raúl Fernández or Remy Gardner, among others). Likewise, it will be the first time for almost the entire Moto3 grid, a category in which many do not race in Asia until they reach the World Championship.

Adaptation, moreover, is not easy. It is a very fast circuit , with curves in which you enter quickly and constant elevation changes, which make the mounts not stop turning throughout the lap. A design that favors the most Aussie riding style.

As if that were not enough, its location, in the middle of the ocean, makes the views spectacular . However, it is precisely its coordinates that make the Australian event one of the most adverse, climatologically speaking. The cold is common, as well as strong gusts of wind, which ends up putting the pilots in a bind.

With its good side and its bad side, Phillip Island is one of the most anticipated tracks on the calendar by drivers, teams and fans. Enjoy the best photos from the first day of free practice at the Australian Grand Prix!
