With five races in the 2022 season, Formula 1 traveled back to Europe for the Spanish Grand Prix, a place where we have seen the new updates of the teams in their cars.

Controversy surfaced in the Aston Martin garage before the track activity had even begun, and from the moment the lights turned green in free practice on Friday, all eyes were on Sebastian’s AMR22 Vettel and Lance Stroll.

With this ‘green Red Bull’ at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya we present you the best images of the day in Spanish territory.

The first free practice sessions were dominated by the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, who finished at the top of the standings after beating his teammate from the Maranello team, Carlos Sainz, by just 79 thousandths. His rival for the world title and current world champion, Max Verstappen, was third, just over three tenths away, but the illusion filled the faces of the fans when they saw the other local hero, Fernando Alonso, in fifth position.

In the afternoon session , the Monegasque prevailed again, although this time it was the two Mercedes who slipped between the Ferraris, with George Russell ahead of Lewis Hamilton. The Spaniard from the red team was fourth, although it seems that he has saved some cards for Saturday’s battle in qualifying.

Alonso, for his part, was sixth , just half a second off Leclerc’s fastest time, which shows that the Alpine does not perform as badly as one might initially think after seeing the results in recent races, where it was more bad luck that left the Spaniard without points.
