The Ardennes circuit is one of the best known by all motorsport fans, and more specifically by motor racing fans. The layout of more than seven kilometers has been the protagonist of quite a few serious accidents in recent years and due to this they have decided to modify it in search of greater safety.

For a few months now, Spa-Francorchamps has been undergoing a curious reconstruction phase that focuses mainly on the installation of new grandstands and the modification of some parts of the layout. For example, at La Source, Raidillon, Pouhon and Blanchimont .

The run-offs will also be modified, some will be widened and others will simply change the asphalt back to gravel to improve the safety of the drivers in those actions in which they try to take advantage of the asphalt run-offs so as not to slow down when they exceed the track limits. .

Most of the modifications are focused on the Eau Rouge and Raidillon areas , the main sources of criticism in recent years due to the major accidents that have taken place in that area.

To rebuild the Spa circuit, the investment will be around 80 million euros, which must be paid over ten years. In that budget, the local government will contribute 29.5 million, while another 21 million will come from its own funds and the remaining 29.5 million will be obtained through one or more loans.

Once the works are finished, the circuit will need the approval of the FIM and the FIA again to be able to host races of the highest categories, something that is expected not to be a very expensive process, especially since the changes are being doing to improve security, just what both agencies had requested.
