Last year’s Moto2 world champion suffered a fall while preparing for the preseason doing motocross on January 15, having to undergo surgery three days later on his hand, where two nails were inserted to contain a small fissure on the right wrist.
Two weeks after that, Remy Gardner got on the KTM RC16 on Monday with which he will debut this year in MotoGP, in the first Shakedown tests for testers and debutants of 2022, which are held until this Wednesday in Sepang.
On his first day on the job, Gardner managed to lap 2.01.852s, making him the fifth fastest driver on the track. This Tuesday, on the second day of testing, the Australian lowered his best time to 2.01.177, improving his mark by almost seven tenths.
“Today has been a really positive day. I’m starting to feel better on the bike because we made some good changes,” explained Remy at the end of the day.
However, the rider continues to drag the consequences of the injury he suffered while doing motocross.
“While I can usually manage, I’m still trying to deal with my wrist as it got a little more painful as the day went on,” she admitted.
If on Monday Gardner was the second fastest rookie of the day, after his teammate Raúl Fernández , this Tuesday he was overtaken by the man from Madrid (2.00.819) and also the Italian Marco Bezzecchi, who finished third and best rookie (2.00. 734).
“Anyway, these days are to test many things, everything is going well at the moment, I’m enjoying the process and I can’t wait to get back out on the track tomorrow,” settled the Sydney rider .
