A 20-year-old dies after telling a man to wear a mask. The alleged killer is now on trial.

Bad Kreuznach/Idar-Oberstein – The act caused a nationwide sensation: a young gas station employee died after being informed about the corona mask requirement. The district court of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland-Palatinate will deal with the case from Monday (March 21, 2022), 9:00 a.m. The alleged killer is a 50-year-old. He is said to have shot the 20-year-old in Idar-Oberstein in the Birkenfeld district.

The investigations so far have shown that the accused wanted to buy beer at the gas station on September 18th. At first he did not wear a mask, which led to a discussion with the student who worked as a temporary help at the gas station. The person who refuses to wear a mask is said to have left the gas station, but returned shortly afterwards with a mouth and nose cover. He pulled her down at the checkout, spoke briefly to the 20-year-old, pulled a revolver out of his pocket and shot the gas station employee in the head. For weeks, grief shaped life in Idar-Oberstein.

Against the background that, according to the public prosecutor’s office, the perpetrator acted “insidiously and for base motives”, the court is now dealing with the case. The accused, who had not previously been known to the police, confessed after his arrest: he had long felt burdened by the Covid 19 requirements, such as the obligation to wear a mask, and wanted to “set an example” with the act. Tell the prosecution. According to the prosecutor, 20 witnesses, including eyewitnesses who were at the gas station, were heard by investigators.
