Fernández, whose vacancy in the Aki Ajo team will be filled by Albert Arenas, has a margin of four points ahead of Ai Ogura, his closest rival.

In this way, the 24-year-old Spanish rider will share the GasGas workshop with Pol Espargaró, who next year will spearhead the brand in his debut in the heavy motorcycle category.

With the confirmation of Fernández, who has accumulated seven victories on his service record – all of them in Moto2 – the MotoGP grid can be considered closed . “I want to thank everyone who has supported me since I signed for the KTM Ajo structure,” said Fernández, who obviously wants to reach the premier class through the big door: “Anyway, before that I want focus on trying to achieve the Moto2 title”, added the #37, who will fit into the Tech3 line-up, even though it will receive much more support than ever from the KTM group.

“Augusto will complete a completely Spanish couple in the first year of GasGas in MotoGP. He has worked very well with the Ajo team, and has shown how he is capable of making a difference in such a tight category”, praised him, for his part, Pit Beirer, sports manager of KTM.

“We believe that he has done everything necessary to deserve that place next to Pol, and to discover MotoGP”, clinched the former motocross rider, one of the main people responsible for the sweep that Tech3 has made with a view to the coming season, in which neither Raúl Fernández nor Remy Gardner will continue in that garage.
