Germany values stopping requiring the use of the mask due to the decrease in the incidence

The Minister of Justice of Germany, Christine Lambrecht , has put on the table this Sunday the possibility of declaring the end of the mandatory use of the mask at a time when the country is registering minimum incidence.

The country has registered 1,489 cases and 18 deaths in the last hours for a total of 17.3 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, data that invite, in Lambrecht's opinion, to reconsider some additional relaxation of the restrictions.

By comparison, the incidence was 24.7 the week before, according to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the official German agency in charge of monitoring the pandemic.

"State leaders are going to have to clarify whether the requirement to wear a mask continues to be proportionate as the figures fall and the incidence remains low," he said in comments to 'Bild am Sonntag'.

In fact, the vice-president of the German Parliament (Bundestag), Wolfgang Kubicki, has gone further and directly called for a complete end to the mandatory masks in light of the existing figures.

"With an incidence rate clearly lower than 35, the state cannot have a general restriction of basic rights for all citizens," he indicated, before stating that "policies should depend on citizen responsibility rather than rules that say all the time tell people how they should act.
