Godfall, Gearbox's slasher looter, is coming to PS4 in August and will offer cross-play with PS5 [E3 2021]

The rumors are over . Gearbox has taken advantage of its great moment during E3 2021 to serve a good portion of news for Godfall, including what we all took for granted: the looter shooter that accompanied the launch of PS5 will bring its brutal blows to PS4 before the end of the summer.

Of course, Gearbox also had some surprises in store for PC players and, from next August 10 , both PlayStation systems: Godfall will receive a free update and a new expansion. In fact, just below you have the first preview of both.

On the one hand, with the arrival of the Lightbringer Update an Endgame will be added, as well as a huge amount of loot and skins to encourage us to continue sweeping our character. In addition, the Fire & Darkness expansion will extend the contents of Godfall itself, leading us to fight the Kingdom of Fire and face new enemies.

Although the Godfall update will be free for all players, in the case of Fire & Darkness it is a paid expansion that is included in all Deluxe and Ascended editions of the game. In any case, the two new batches of content will arrive on August 10.

Godfall heads to PS4 with cross-play

To be fair, Gearbox had already anticipated that the exclusivity of the game on PS5 consoles would last until last May, so the big question that remained ahead of us was knowing when and how the game would look compared to the new generation version. . Unfortunately, we have to wait a little longer for the second.

On the other hand, Gearbox has confirmed that Godfall will offer PS5 and PS4 players cross-play , promising that very fluid online multiplayer will be offered on both consoles. Which leads to the last of the big announcements: the Godfall matchmaking beta will kick off this summer as well.

Godfall will receive a new content boost before it reaches its first year as a game, and in the process, Gearbox’s looter slasher experience opens up to over 110 million PS4 owners. An interesting play, to say the least, for what was the first game officially announced for PlayStation 5.
