That is why holidaymakers infected with the corona virus even had to sleep on the beach. Greek media reported that there had been a “hail of canceled bookings” following the announcement of the local lockdown. Quarantine accommodations are also currently overcrowded on Mallorca.

Incidence value Greece: quarantine hotels on Mykonos reject infected people

On Mykonos, verifiably infected travelers were rejected from the quarantine hotels because they were overcrowded. An Italian tourist told of his experience in which he was not allowed to fly back home, stayed in no hotel and that it left him desperate. He was turned away from the hospital because his symptoms were not severe enough. Unvaccinated people also currently have limited rights in Greece. For example, people who have not been vaccinated are not allowed in restaurants.

Only recently the nightlife was raging on Mykonos, now it is prohibited to go out at night.

The Greek jet-set island of Mykonos is known as a travel destination for predominantly wealthy people from countries in the eastern Mediterranean. In addition, top football players, influencers, actors and other celebrities spend their holidays on the small Cycladic island. Most recently there were extravagant parties with hundreds of guests almost every day, with people partying all night long without distance and without a mask. This is over for the time being.

The government in Athens announced last week that it would not endanger the country’s tourism under any circumstances because some irresponsible entrepreneurs and guests disregarded every protection rule against the corona virus. * Kreiszeitung.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
