With the 2022 driver market fully resolved, Guidotti’s departure from Pramac was one of the highlights of the winter. Not so much because of his arrival at KTM, where he had already worked years ago, but because the change of scenery caught most by surprise. To the first, to Paolo Campinoti, owner of the first Ducati satellite team, and where Guidotti played a decisive role as team manager.

In his new role as sports director of the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, the Italian attended the media this Thursday, at the official KTM launch, before embarking for Sepang, where the first tests of 2022 start this week .

When the time comes to define what his functions will be, Guidotti sees himself as a mixture of psychologist and group coordinator, whose main aspiration will be to maintain the unity and sense of belonging of a group of more than 40 people. In turn, it must also act as a bridge between the official structure, with Brad Binder and Miguel Oliveira as a pair of riders, and Tech3, which has Remy Gardner and Raúl Fernández, the two rookies who played for the Moto2 title in 2021. finally won by the Australian.

“I have not come to Mattighofen with the idea of changing anything or anyone. I have found very motivated technicians. KTM does not need changes, but things to coordinate and organize better,” Guidotti reasoned.

“KTM has asked me to unite all the members of the team. I have to try to keep everyone calm and leave the problems at home. I have not come to impose anything. I just want us to reach the goal by being faithful to the philosophy of KTM,” he added.

When asked about the reasons that led him to leave Pramac, the executive only had good words for what has been his home in recent times, although he stressed that the challenge that was put before him was too attractive to pass up.

“Leaving Pramac was a very difficult decision, but coming back to an official team is something special. Working in a factory, for someone like me, who is so passionate about motorcycles, brings you into a different atmosphere. It allows you to be much more involved in the technical development. I didn’t leave Pramac because it was bad there, but because this is a personal challenge”, Guidotti was honest.

When the news of his signing broke, there were those who questioned the chosen moment, due to the matter of having been able to share with Pramac the tests that were carried out last November, in Jerez, already with the 2022 Ducati. However, both the Borgo Panigale brand as its new manager make it clear that the manufacturer of the red motorcycles should not worry.

“I am not a technician, but my experience is more sporting, so I cannot contribute anything from the technical point of view of the last ten years (with Ducati),” he concluded.
