According to a representative survey, more than half of Germans are in favor of 30 km / h zones in the city. At the speed limit of 30 km / h it looks different.

Berlin (dpa) – According to a survey, well every second German is in one way or another for a speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour within cities.

According to a representative survey by the YouGov Institute on behalf of the car sales platform mobile.de, 57.8 percent are for 30 km / h zones in the city.

Flat rate for a speed limit of 30 km / h on all urban roads is only 17 percent. About as many people are in favor of temporary speed limits – for example at night – and almost 23 percent in favor of local restrictions, as the published survey shows.

Most respondents see the benefit of a 30 limit in the city in the fact that there are fewer accidents (22.9 percent) and speeders are restricted (22.5). Significantly fewer people expect less traffic noise (13.4) or see benefits for environmental protection (10.4). After all, one in five (19.4) sees no advantages at all from such a speed limit.

The Hamburg Senate recently announced that it would introduce a nocturnal speed limit of 30 in the fight against traffic noise on 85 busy road sections.

According to the survey, almost two out of three Germans (63.8 percent) would like to have a speed control on motorways. Of them, 44 percent were in favor of a speed limit of 130 kilometers per hour.
