Lewis Hamilton unveiled his new helmet for the 2022 Formula 1 season via a post on his team’s social media, featuring a predominant yellow color reminiscent of his beginnings at the Grand Circus.

A day before the start of the new year at the Sakhir circuit, the driver and the team announced through a black and white photo that they had a surprise in store for their fans, and that it would be the decoration of the seven-time world champion’s helmet.

The British said that it was something very special for him, and just a few minutes before the start of the first free practices of the course he presented the curious design, something unexpected since it had been a long time since Hamilton had worn yellow tones.

“For this year’s helmet I wanted to show love to my beginnings. As much as I love purple and black, yellow is my story. I approach this season with the same dedication, drive and passion that I had in my stage in karting,” said Hamilton on his official Twitter account.

The Englishman used to wear a white helmet at the beginning of the hybrid era with Mercedes, however, from 2017 he changed it to one similar to that of his beginnings in the category.

That did not last long, since from 2018 it returned to white, and it continued until 2020, the year in which Mercedes modified the colors of the car, going from gray to black as a sign of commitment to the fight against racism.

Hamilton also changed his helmet to dark tones combined with purple, with the message “Black lives matter” on the top, something that was seen from the onboard camera to vindicate his support for the movement.

In free practice for the Bahrain GP, Hamilton still wore his black and purple livery. Will you debut the new helmet in the second session?
