television-vida Regular physical exercise during free time or at work reduces the risk of heart attack by up to 14%, according to a study published in the European Heart Journal . The authors also conclude that people who own a car and a television are more prone to cardiovascular disease.

The data used in the research come from about 25,000 individuals from 52 countries on five continents. The sedentary lifestyle , according to the study, increases the risk of heart attack more than hypertension, diabetes, reduced consumption of fruits and vegetables, or tobacco, among other risk factors.

The analyzes also reveal that people who have a car and a television have a higher systolic blood pressure (maximum value of the anterior pressure). "If we want healthy longevity for the future, we have to put a stop to the sedentary pandemic ," researcher Emeline Van Caenenbroeck, from Antwerp University Hospital (Belgium), said in an editorial in the European Heart Journal. According to the researchers, staying physically fit throughout life is one of the easiest, cheapest and most effective ways to avoid visiting the cardiologist.
