The HRC satellite team announced in a statement that the Tokyo factory and the 30-year-old rider had reached an agreement to continue together in 2023.

With this new agreement, Takaaki Nakagami, who made his MotoGP debut in 2018, will complete his sixth season in the senior class, always with the LCR team and with a factory contract.

The refusal of the young Japanese promise Ai Ogura , second overall in Moto2 at the moment, to make the leap to MotoGP, has facilitated the continuity of Tara.

According to the statement issued by Honda, “Nakagami has shown constant improvement and, so far, during his 80 participations in MotoGP races: he has finished as the best independent team rider five times and has achieved six top 5 finishes. In addition, Nakagami He has accumulated one Pole Position and four front row starts in the premier class, in addition to his 14 podiums in the Moto2 World Championship, which include two wins.”

“I am very happy to be able to continue racing in MotoGP in 2023 with the LCR Honda IDEMITS,” Nakagami explains in the statement.

“I would like to thank IDEMITSU and Honda HRC for their continued support. I am looking forward to the next season, and I will do my best to achieve the best results with the team. Meanwhile, in the remainder of the season, I will continue to work hard to improve my performance”.

With this announcement, HRC closes its driver line-up for 2023, with Marc Márquez and Joan Mir in the Repsol team, and Alex Rins and Nakagami in the LCR satellite line-up.

After learning about this renewal, all that remains is for Augusto Fernández’s promotion to the GasGas-Tech3 team to be made official as Pol Espargaró’s teammate, to have the complete 2023 grid.
