0

More than two million years ago, the period that we know as the Paleolithic was inaugurated. It is the longest known stretch of history, in this case prehistory, and where some of the most significant advances in human history took place. At this time, there were various types of human races that ended up in develop in the Neanderthal and later in the sapiens. These settlers are known as Homos Habilis and Homos Erectus. After a long time populating the Earth, these men began to adapt to their environment, to climatic changes and to develop much more advanced models of life little by little. Nomadic settlements The forms of life at this time were very rudimentary. According to the findings that have occurred throughout history, it has been determined that these Paleolithic men lived in small groups, were nomads and had a common goal within their small clan or family: to survive. At that time survival was the most valuable thing for the members of a clan who were dedicated to travel and hunt to live. Normally, they settled first in temporary camps or caves, which served as a refuge from the weather conditions and sudden temperature changes. There was no clear hierarchy, nor a leader, they just wanted to survive and look for food. Little by little they developed their hunting techniques to be more efficient for the subsistence of the group. Hunting and gathering Despite the fact that these groups were small and nomadic, they dedicated themselves to gathering vegetables and plants. Along with this, they usually also used to hunt small animals such as rodents and reptiles, but they still did not have a precise technique for hunting. It was with the appearance of what is known as Homo Erectus that these Paleolithic settlers began to develop a much more elaborate hunting capacity and thought to obtain larger food. They began to develop spears, fishing harpoons and nets. In some sites, the bones of elephants that could have been hunted by these Paleolithic settlers have been found, before it is not fully ratified by the experts. In these small groups, it has been attested that there were specific rituals for hunting, as well as that to encourage the fertility of women, although it has not been shown that they had religious beliefs of any kind.
