How do I know if I am entitled to the AT&T bonus and how much?

In May, the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco) and AT&T derived from the “charge for deferred equipment”, which was imposed on consumers who contracted telecommunications services with the company in Mexico between November and December 2018 and from January to August 2019.

For this, an agreement was reached whereby the telephone company will discount and/or compensate more than 844,000 of its customers for the collection. If you think you were affected but don’t know how to prove it or how to access compensation, we’ll give you the details.

This Sunday, Profeco reminded consumers who were affected by AT&T that they can now access the bonus.

For this purpose, it is essential that you have contracted services between November and December 2018 and August 2019, have acquired a device in payments that have been charged for this charge.

To find out if this charge was made by AT&T, Profeco recommended consumers check their account statement in the section “Charges for equipment and accessories” and look for the monthly payment number they paid. This number indicates the year and month in which they paid.

The compensation applies under the following assumptions:

  • For consumers who no longer have current service, AT&T will return the amounts charged plus 20% compensation.
  • For current consumers, AT&T undertakes to discount the charges made plus an additional 20% compensation through an “internet-data” bag, consisting of 3 GB for each effective charge on each of the lines in which has been made, without establishing a deadline for its consumption.

In order to access the benefits, consumers must go to the nearest Customer Service Center, which can be found at the following link: .

They must express their desire to join the class action, proving that they were an AT&T customer, providing an account statement or telephone number in which the “deferred equipment charge” was applied, and showing some official identification.

The refund will be made through a payment order issued in the name of the beneficiary consumer so that he can collect it in BBVA Mexico, and which will be delivered at the time the client signs the accession document.

In case of doubt, Profeco made available the site x, as well as the email and the telephone number 5625 6700 exts. 12014, 12021, 12043 and 12053.
