How many light years has your favorite song traveled?

0

The Lightyear.fm website shows what music you would listen to, depending on how far in light years you were from Earth. Also, the spatial view within the web is fascinating. This is just the beginning of an experience that we, as viewers and listeners, will have upon entering it.

Once inside, at the bottom center of the screen, you see a kind of timeline that shows the distance between us and the Earth and the song you listen to. For example, when you are in the orbit of the Earth, you hear "Thunder" by Imagine Dragons. And then, depending on the light minutes, light hours and light years that you move away from Earth, the music changes; In other words, the older a song is, the farther from Earth it will be playing because the longer the waves of those emissions will have spent traveling through the cosmos.

“Radio transmissions leave the Earth at the speed of light. Travel away from Earth and hear how far the greatest hits of the past have traveled. The further you go, the longer the waves take to get there, and the older the music you will hear will be ”, says the website itself.

The fun and curious website was created by Mike Lacher, Brian Moore, Chris Baker, Mika Chernov, whose team won the Kantar Information is Beautiful awards in 2015.
