There is a limit of four tickets per application, but there are also ways to request tickets for groups of 10 or more, so if you visit a larger group, don’t be discouraged.
Group tickets
If you have a group of 10-20 who want to attend a recording of The Chew, you’re in luck. Please email [email protected] to request group accommodations and be sure to include information about your group, as well as three possible dates to attend. Note that the show tapes are usually on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Obtaining Reservation Tickets
Stand-by tickets are distributed on the same day as the show recordings at ABC Television Studios, 30 West 67th Street (between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West) 90 minutes before the recording begins, at 7:30 a.m. for 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for the 12:15 p.m. taping They can also announce last minute availability on their ticket page, so check there too.
What to expect in a recording
Once you enter, you will show your ticket voucher and photo ID, then go through a metal detector and have your bags inspected. You will then be taken to an audience waiting room with restrooms, water, and snacks. You will enter the studio based on the different colored stripes on your tickets.
The studio accommodates approximately 150 audience members, 10 of whom will be lucky enough to sit at the tasting table, where they will have the opportunity to sample the food they prepare for the show. Sometimes other members of the audience get samples as well.
Once seated, a warm-up comedian will come out to introduce himself and prepare the audience and get them excited about the show. The recording itself takes about an hour and a half, although you will probably be in the studio for almost two hours.
It’s a particularly fun recording to watch – The Chew hosts interact with various members of the studio audience before the recording begins, as well as during breaks between segments. Mario Batali hands out samples to members of the audience. Clinton Kelly even poses for selfies with various members of the audience after the tapes at times. The recording, like the show, has a fun and entertaining atmosphere and is quite enjoyable.
What to know about tickets
- You must be at least 14 years old to attend
- The Chew generally records two shows daily on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
- The early show is taped at 9 a.m. and generally lasts until 11 a.m. The line for ticket holders starts around 8 a.m. and you must arrive before 8:45 a.m. or you risk being given your spot. someone in the waiting line.

- Dress for the weather outside. Ticket holders are often asked to line up along 67th Street outside the studio before entering the building. We waited outside for approximately 30 minutes before being allowed into the building to clear security.
- You will need a photo ID with the name that matches the reservation to claim your tickets. Don’t forget to bring a printed copy of your ticket reservation .
- Large packages, shopping bags, suitcases, etc. are not allowed. in the studio, so be sure to pack minimally. Small bags are allowed.
- Smart casual dress is suggested. The studio instructions call for people to wear bright, solid colors and look modern.
