The smartphone is that faithful companion that is always with you and that usually keeps you in constant contact with the outside world. Before we leave the house, we make sure that it is still with us and it is likely that the last time you turned it off it was at the cinema (or not even that). This feature makes the mobile an excellent way to immortalize any time and any place. As technology continues to advance and with it the cameras of the telephones have gotten better and better, the most current models offer high quality images and videos. But how can we take the best photos with our own phone? We show you a few tips that we hope you find useful:

Look for the light

Smartphones have very bright lenses, but the sensors are much smaller than what we can find in a professional camera. How do we balance this disadvantage? If we do not want a poor image quality in low light, look for those moments with better light so that the sensor of your phone can work better. If you are indoors, try setting the frame so that light falls on the subject or object; a little light from a window will do better than anything else. Avoid using the LED flash and find a good source of natural light. The results will be noticeable.

Use a tripod

If when you have taken a sunset photo, you notice that the images seem a bit blurry, you should familiarize yourself with one of the most useful tools of photographers: the tripod. Thanks to it, you can try new styles of photography such as long exposures, timelapse , low light photography, etc. Also, remember that there are pocket tripods on the market. No need to carry a whole bag of tools; A small tripod will fit in your bag or backpack and can be used with almost any phone.

Clean the camera lens

It seems like a no-brainer, but we may forget that the mobile passes through our hands all day, through our purse or trouser pocket or jacket and, as a result, the lenses will be covered with dirt, fingerprints and dust. A combination that will leave spots or blurs in the photos we take. In order not to run the risk of taking a blurry photo, but rather sharp and clear, we have to clean the lens of the mobile phone’s camera. How? Very simple . With a soft cloth (or even a t-shirt). If you have been or are going to the beach or a place with a lot of dust, before rubbing with a cloth, blow on the lens, we do not want it to end up scratched. If you get used to cleaning the lens on a daily basis, it will become a routine and you will notice a big difference in the clarity of the photos.

¿Zoom?

Avoid zooming as much as possible. Instead, come closer. If you think that zooming will not change the way the photo will look, you are very wrong. Whether out of laziness or ignorance, we use this “image shredder” function. We recommend you stop doing it (unless you have optical zoom). If possible, always get closer to the target.

Don’t overexpose images

You can brighten a photo that is too dark with editing tools, but there is nothing you can do for a photo that is overexposed. You can prevent overexposure of light by adjusting the lighting on the screen: swipe up or down to adjust the exposure.

Know the characteristics of your camera

The current capabilities of mobile cameras are staggering. You can blur the background of photos, mimic the look of a wide-aperture lens, or even shoot slow-motion movies. Your phone probably also has burst or sequence mode to take a lot of photos and select the best one. All you have to do is learn what features your mobile camera has and make the most of them, with imagination and enthusiasm.
