How to use a Bluetooth mouse with the iPad

Although any version of the iPad has a comfortable and practical touch screen , extremely easy and simple to use, it is possible that, at times, we want to use a mouse , which could make it even easier to use the device without using your fingers or a touchpen.

Fortunately, with the advent of iPadOS 13.4 connecting a mouse to the iPad has become a much simpler process, which in turn improved the overall experience of using it. In addition, it offered the possibility of connecting the Magic Mouse 2 , developed by Apple, without having to dive into the Settings application. But how can we pair our mouse, and how to use it?

Setting up our Bluetooth mouse on an iPad

One of the simplest ways when using a mouse with our iPad is for the device to be wireless, configuring it through Bluetooth connectivity. In fact, any mouse with this type of connection should work perfectly without generating or causing any type of problem or incident.

Of course, the steps to follow are slightly different if we have a version prior to iPadOS 13.4. If this is our case, we must look for the Accessibility menu as an option to pair some mice with specific Bluetooth connectivity. However, in case of using a later version, we can do it directly through the typical Bluetooth interface.

Before starting the process, we must make sure that the Bluetooth mouse we want to use is not paired with any PC or Mac. Then, we activate Bluetooth on the iPad and start with the configuration by activating the pairing mode on the mouse .

Once this is done, we go to the Settings application of our iPad, which we will find located on the home screen. Click on Bluetooth and make sure that the connectivity is active (remember that the switch or lever must be shown in green).

In case we use Apple’s Magic Mouse 2, it will be enough to turn it off and on again for the device to appear. However, in the Other devices section our mouse should appear.

If it appears, click on the device name. A Bluetooth Pairing Request may appear. If so, click on the Pair button.

If you need to customize the experience, you can do it from the Settings application, accessing General and finally Trackpad and mouse , where you can modify the speed and even choose whether or not to activate the secondary click (right or left).
