Hundreds at vigil for killed women in London

The way home was short, but the young woman never got there. Her murder shocked people – hundreds are now commemorating the 28-year-olds together.

London – After the murder of a young woman in London, hundreds of people at a vigil thought of the 28-year-olds and called on the government to become more involved in the fight against violence.

Relatives spoke in tears of their suffering, as the British media reported on Saturday. Investigator Trevor Lawry asked the crowd for clues. “Please help us catch those responsible for this shocking case,” Lawry said in front of about 500 mourners. Duchess Kate (39) expressed her condolences to the bereaved.

The 28-year-old was on the short way from her apartment to a pub on September 17th, where she was going to meet a friend. The next afternoon, her body was found in a park that her path led through. The police have arrested two men so far, but both have now been released. The authorities are feverishly looking for a third man.

The case is reminiscent of the murder of Sarah Everard from London. The 33-year-old disappeared without a trace on her way home from a friend in March. A police officer confessed to kidnapping, raping and killing Everard. The verdict against him is expected in the coming week.

“I am saddened by the loss of another innocent young woman on our streets,” tweeted Duchess Kate via the Kensington Palace account. “My thoughts go with Sabina’s family and friends and everyone who has been affected by this tragic event.” Prime Minister Boris Johnson also expressed his condolences to the relatives. “My thoughts are with the family and friends of Sabina Nessa at this deeply troubling time,” he tweeted on Friday evening and promised: “We will do everything we can to prevent these heinous crimes and make our streets safer.”
