Hyundai i10: the advanced student of the segment A

Even today we can see the odd Hyundai Atos circulating in our cities. This A-segment model began to be manufactured in 1997 and its design was, to say the least, not very attractive . Luckily, the Korean firm replaced it with the Hyundai i10 back in 2007. Since then, a lot has happened in the Asian house, starting with its shift towards a more Europeanized design language . The brand has overcome its initial shyness and reluctance, putting aside its origin to conquer the buyer from the Old Continent. For this, it has endowed its models with a careful and attractive design, as we can see in the new Hyundai Santa Fe. A qualitative leap from which the smallest of its family also benefits: the Hyundai i10 2020 .

This A-segment utility vehicle, the most compact on our market , has gained a lot at first glance, but its strength is on the inside. Its dimensions have changed compared to the previous generation and now measures 3.67 meters long (5 mm more) by 1.68 wide (20 mm more) and 1.48 high (20 mm less). The most remarkable thing is the increase in wheelbase by 40 millimeters , an aspect that improves the space in the passenger compartment and especially that of the rear seats. The i10 is one of the few utility vehicles with 3 real seats behind, an advantage over rivals such as the Renault Twingo, Toyota Aygo or Seat Mii (now 100% electric).

Its new proportions directly affect the aerodynamic capacity of the new Hyundai i20, which goes from 0.32 to 0.31 Cx. Being a purely urban model, air resistance is not a vital parameter, but it gives us an idea about its more harmonious profile. All this without affecting passenger comfort and its 252-liter boot , one of the best in the A segment.

For now there will be no ecological variant in its range of engines, it remains in the traditional combustion with three gasoline engines of up to 100 HP . On the other hand, the technological and security equipment is ten. Hyundai is a firm that is committed to providing its vehicles with the latest in systems, even in access models. Hence, its value for money is one of the best on the market , much more interesting than traditional premium vehicles. Let’s learn more about this city animal, ready to usurp the leadership of Japanese and Europeans .
