Identifying the coronavirus: How good are the rapid antigen tests from the supermarket?

False results in rapid tests are not uncommon. What should you consider when buying an antigen test? Which tests work best?

Hamburg – One hears again and again about false test results in quick tests that can be carried out at home. It happens often with some manufacturers, others show more reliable results.
24hamburg.de reveals which quick tests are good and what you should consider when buying one.

When buying a rapid test, it is important that the product has a CE seal or at least a special approval from the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices can be found on the packaging. This lets customers know that it is a reputable manufacturer.

If you want to be on the safe side, you can check the Paul Ehrlich Institute website to see whether the quick test you can take at home is reliable. The German Federal Institute for Vaccines and Biomedical Drugs has now tested 250 tests for their sensitivity to corona viruses. The usual tests from the supermarket, such as Hotgen or Boson, detect at least a very high viral load 100 percent. The quick tests from the Chinese manufacturer Shenzhen Lvshiyuan Biotechnology, the French manufacturer Toda Pharma and the German manufacturer Ulti Med Products performed best. They also detect lower viral loads 96 percent.

Anyone who has a positive rapid corona test should do a PCR test in a test center to be on the safe side. If this is also positive, you have to go into quarantine immediately and independently. * 24hamburg.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
