"In the middle" in Hamburg: exhibition about accessibility

What do people with disabilities need in their everyday lives? There are answers in an exhibition in Hamburg. Visitors should playfully change perspective.

Hamburg – How are paraplegics, people with stress disorders, blind, deaf, autistic or short stature in their everyday life and what do they need to make it easier for them?

The exhibition “Mittendrin” in Hamburg’s warehouse district, which starts on Saturday, aims to provide answers to these questions. In it, seven people with different limitations have their say. With board and question games, visitors should be brought into the protagonists’ situation and thus to a change of perspective.

The new exhibition laboratory complements the interactive exhibitions “Dialogue in Silence” and “Dialogue in the Dark” at the Hamburg exhibition center Dialoghaus. It was designed in German and English and was funded with around 430,000 euros by the German television lottery.

After three years, some content and formats are to become part of the new Dialoghaus 2.0, which is scheduled to open in 2025 as a “Social Science Center” in Hamburg’s Speicherstadt. dpa
