Forty years ago, Harrison Ford first played the adventurer Indiana Jones. The start date for the fifth part has now been postponed again.

Los Angeles – After several postponements of the long-planned “Indiana Jones” sequel, the fans have to be patient. Instead of July 2022, the adventure saga will not be released until June 2023, as the Disney Studio announced on Monday (local time).

Then main actor Harrison Ford in the role of archeology professor Henry Walton Jones would already be 80 years old.

Disney announced a number of delays in theatrical release. The Marvel film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” will be postponed from March 2022 to May, “Thor: Love and Thunder” from May 2022 to July. The “Black Panther” sequel “Wakanda Forever”, which is currently being shot, is not due to start until November 2022. According to information from the industry journals “Variety” and “Hollywood Reporter”, the later start dates are related, among other things, to delays in production.

Filming for “Indiana Jones 5”, directed by James Mangold (“Walk the Line”) began in England in early June, but Harrison Ford sustained a shoulder injury during rehearsals for a fight scene and had to take a few weeks off. In addition to Ford, Mads Mikkelsen (“Doctor Strange”) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (“Fleabag”) are also involved.

Ford has played the daring professor four times since 1981, most recently in 2008 in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Due to the corona pandemic, the start of production had been postponed several times. dpa
