Industrial activity stagnates after five months with growth

Industrial activity remained stagnant during August, presenting no variation with respect to July levels. However, there was a decrease in the activity of sectors such as construction and the manufacturing industry, reported the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi).

Since the monthly fall of 0.4% in February, the industrial activity indicator had accumulated five months with increases.

In their monthly comparisons, mining increased 0.4%, construction fell 1.7%, manufacturing decreased 0.1% and the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, water supply and gas through pipelines to the final consumer, 0.4%.

On the other hand, at an annual rate, the monthly indicator of industrial activity grew 3% during August, where manufacturing grew 6.4%, the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, supply of water and gas through pipelines to the final consumer, 4 %; Construction was down 4.4% and Mining was unchanged.

In January and August, the subsectors that have grown the most compared to the previous year, are the manufacture of products derived from petroleum and coal, with an increase of 17.2%; services related to mining, 15.6%; printing in related industries (13.4%) and the manufacture of computer equipment, communication and electronic accessories, with an increase of 12.3%.
