On December 25, a young man gained access to the extensive property of the residence, where Queen Elizabeth II is said to have celebrated with her eldest son Prince Charles (73) and his wife Duchess Camilla (75). The then 19-year-old, who was carrying a crossbow, apparently wanted to murder the monarch.
Fortunately, the troublemaker was unable to carry out his plan and was arrested by the police before he could even enter a building. After several months of investigation, the intruder has now been charged, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement. He is accused of, among other things, death threats and possession of weapons.

On August 17, the Southampton-based defendant, who is currently in custody, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London. According to The New Daily, he faces up to seven years in prison.
Queen Elizabeth II could follow the intruder’s trial from Scotland. The 96-year-old is spending her long summer break at Balmoral Castle again this year. Other members of the royal family keep her company there. For example, William (40) and Kate (40) move into the Tam Na Ghar Cottage when they are in Scotland.
