The Italian Interior Minister, Matteo Salvini, has revealed that a new investigation has been opened against him for the alleged kidnapping of immigrants in relation to the blockade in January of the boat of the rescue NGO Sea-Watch, which spent almost a week in front of to Sicily. "I am again under investigation," said Salvini during a ceremony in the city of Monza, from where he reiterated that, "as long as he is minister", the ports will remain "closed". "Another 18 processes may be initiated against me, but I do not change my mind," he added, according to 'Il Corriere della Sera'. Salvini stressed that, as Minister of the Interior, it is he who has the powers on immigration, after that his coalition partner Luigi Di Maio, from the 5 Star Movement, pointed out that the closure of ports is a "temporary" measure. The minister was already accused of kidnapping in August, in relation to the blocking of more than 170 migrants on a ship docked in port. The Senate stopped these investigations and, according to Salvini, in this second case the Prosecutor's Office has recommended that the possible case against him be closed.
