Jerez.- The Spaniard, who finished the last Grand Prix of the year in Valencia in desolation after not being able to reach the podium, which was his goal, has definitely changed his mood from last Sunday due to a more positive smile after being able to test the prototype of the 2022 Suzuki GSX-RR.
“It was a difficult day this Friday because of the wind, much more than Thursday, and this limits a bit, you can’t really ride fast. I would have liked a day without so much air. Despite this, we were able to test things that were important, some new parts and some electronics, to understand the real potential of the engine. I am happy with the steps we are taking”, valued the Mallorcan.
“I’m going on vacation with the work done. A positive year. It is clear that we wanted more, but it cannot be classified as a bad year at all. I need a bit of vacation, disconnect a bit and come back stronger. Next year there is less of a break, we start earlier and it is important to arrive prepared”.
During the Jerez test Ducati is deploying eight motorcycles, three of them 2022.
“We are all waiting to see if Ducati takes another step, because this year they have really been the strongest. There will be eight bikes and it will be difficult for the others to manage. Let’s hope they don’t take too big a step and that we get a little closer”, he begged.
As to whether he had seen any detail on the other bikes that had caught his attention, the Mallorcan did not want to give many clues.
“I don’t have much time to look at other bikes, but I’ve noticed a Ducati exhaust, some other things of his. Honda has brought out a different aerodynamic package, but with all the work we have, I can’t pay much attention to what the other bikes have.
Finally, Motorsport.com asked him if he thought Ducati was working on the aerodynamics both to improve their times and to worsen those of the bikes behind.
“Well, I don’t know, but there are times when that is the case, that’s what happened to me in Valencia, I had a very good pace in training and when I got behind the Ducati in the race I lost all speed”, assured the Spaniard.
