The workers joined the rejection against the attack that left nine cane cutters injured in Florida, Valle.
The National Union of Agroindustry Workers (Sintrainagro) rejected the “events that occurred in the early morning of May 26, in Florida, Valle, in which the van carrying cane cutters, workers from Trapiche Lucerna, was incinerated.” . In the events to which the union refers, nine workers were injured, two of them seriously.
Sintrainagro, through a statement, made a “call to all government institutions and agencies to generate policies that allow solving the social problems of this country. They added that they are not “unaware” of the effort that employers have made to guarantee employment and that they also call to jointly seek “mechanisms that allow us to save companies and continue to guarantee the employment of many workers.
In defense of the workers, they asked that these or their families “not pay for irresponsible acts committed by people outside the union and social struggle.”
They clarified that they do not agree with this fight being “blurred” with “vandalism”.
The rejection of the workers’ union joins the one manifested in the last hours by the Procaña, Asocaña and SAG Valle unions. “Asocaña, Procaña and SAG Valle strongly reject this fact and repudiate all terrorist acts that put the lives of workers in the region and the country at risk. We stand in solidarity with the families of the victims whom we surround and accompany, understanding their suffering and being very sensitive to the current situation they are facing ”.
They requested “the pertinent authorities to carry out, as soon as possible, the investigations and to bring those responsible to justice. Asocaña, Procaña and SAG Valle make a call for the acts of violence to cease and for the construction of a social dialogue with respect for difference and plurality through which a peaceful solution to the difficult situation we are facing can be found ”.
