Cologne – presenter Joko Winterscheidt (43) once again won the German TV award with his ProSieben program “Who is stealing the show from me?” – and thus prevailed against his ZDF colleague Giovanni Zarrella (44), among others.
Winterscheidt’s quiz was honored as the best entertainment show on Wednesday evening in Cologne. The format had already cleared the coveted trophy in the division last year. “I never would have thought that this was really realistically possible,” said the somewhat bewildered Winterscheidt about the successful defense of the title.
In “Who is stealing the show?” the show host has to defend his job against several candidates. Depending on the outcome, the moderation changes at the next issue. Winterscheidt invented the format. It has already won several awards.
The “Die Giovanni Zarrella Show” from ZDF with entertainer Zarrella and the RTL celebrity rate format “Viva la Diva – Who is the Queen?” were left behind in the jury’s decision. TV chef Tim Mälzer (51) presented it as moderator.
The German Television Prize has been awarded for outstanding television performances since 1999. It is carried by ZDF, Sat.1, ARD, Deutsche Telekom and RTL. ZDF was in charge in 2022. This time, the award ceremony was divided into two consecutive gala evenings. Wednesday’s show was the second. dpa
