Jorge Martín disturbs Miller

Jorge Martín’s impressive MotoGP debut has put Jack Miller on alert. Although the man from Madrid was only able to participate in 14 of the 18 races due to a serious crash in Portimao, the #89 took the rookie of the year title.

After the long break due to injuries sustained in his accident at the Portuguese Grand Prix, the Pramac team driver went on to win a race in Austria. In addition, he made three other podiums and achieved pole position four times.

In the last round of the season in Valencia, he finished second, behind Pecco Bagnaia and ahead of Miller –in Ducati’s first triple in MotoGP–, proving that he will be someone to be reckoned with in 2022 .

If Martin continues to improve, the pressure on Miller to continue with the official Ducati team will be enormous. The Australian, who renewed his contract in the middle of the year, ends his contract in 2022. The Townsville runner was surprised by the impressive debut season of the San Sebastián de los Reyes player.

“He’s a very complete driver. And that makes me nervous,” admits Miller . “This bike is not easy to ride. It has its own character. All the rookies made me nervous because they were getting faster and faster. Jorge did a very good job. He was very professional in his approach, which was not the case with me when I got to MotoGP”.

It was not easy for the #43 to accept that his teammates on the satellite teams were faster at certain points in the season.

“Now I know how Dovi (Andrea Dovizioso) and Petrucci felt when I overtook them,” jokes the Australian. “It’s not a good feeling, definitely not. I hope these rookies continue to pick up a little bit of rhythm.”

“But on the other hand, it motivates me to work on myself and to be a better driver,” concluded Miller, who finished his first season in red in fourth place in the championship with two wins.
