Jorge Martín: "Three zeros in five races are a drag"

Portimao.- Three zeros add up to the Pramac-Ducati rider , not a good situation for a young rider in full progression who shows weekend yes and weekend too that he has pure speed in his veins. However, the undulating Portuguese track is not suited to the driving of the rider from Madrid, who suffered an accident last year that kept him out of action for six races in Portimao , this weekend he has possibly completed his worst Grand Prix of the course.

For the first time, Jorge Martín did not qualify on the front row of the grid, what’s more, he did not even make it past the Q1 cutoff. And in the race, when he came back, he found himself with a completely unexpected fall.

“I was riding behind Marc Márquez and I felt that I had a little more speed than him, but I couldn’t find a way to overtake him”, explained Martín this Sunday at the end of the race.

“I tried to stay behind him to go forward with him, but I lost the front wheel doing absolutely nothing. I braked the same way and I did everything the same as in the previous laps, we have seen it in the data, but I crashed”, he said annoyed.

“It’s a real shame because I think I was riding fast, but I’m confident for next week in Jerez because I think we have the speed. I hope to have a good race there.”

Martín crashed in the opening race of the season, in Qatar, where Pecco Bagnaia took him ahead. It went down again in Indonesia in rainy conditions and an unstable track. And this Sunday, for the third time in five races, a new zero.

“It’s a drag, and it could have been much worse seeing how the race went compared to the rest, with the crashes of Enea Bastianini and Jack Miller, but it is clear that three crashes in five races is not positive, we have to look at why and try to fix it.”

With the World Championship already in Europe and at cruising speed, adding so many zeros will not make the Pramac rider rethink his way of facing the next races.

“I’m not going to change the way we approach the races, I didn’t do anything out of this world in the crash, in the end you have to push because if you try to take things with caution you finish 15th. I am confident for Jerez and I think I will be able to have a good race there”, settled the boy from San Sebastian de los Reyes .
