A man reportedly stabbed a driver after an argument about wearing a mask. Now he is on trial in Hamburg. He has no memories of the crime.

Hamburg – Because he is said to have stabbed a driver after an escalated dispute about wearing a mask, a 27-year-old is now on trial in Hamburg.

But he has no memories of the act, said the defendant on Thursday at the start of the trial before the regional court. “I have a complete tear in the film.” He had previously drunk a lot of alcohol. Therefore, he could not explain how it came about, but he was sorry.

The public prosecutor accuses the man of attempted manslaughter and dangerous physical harm. According to the prosecution, the German, very drunk, approached the later victim at his van near the Legienstrasse underground station on May 8th. He spoke to the driver and asked for a cigarette.

He came so close that he asked him to keep his distance and put on mouth and nose protection. Angry about this, the defendant knocked the door of the van twice against the injured person’s foot – he then resisted. The scuffle broke out. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the 27-year-old suddenly pulled a jackknife, stabbed the driver twice in the back and seriously injured him (file number 602 Ks 5/21). dpa
