The Italian returns to the house of orange motorcycles, with which he has already worked in the past, both in 125cc and 250cc, before joining Pramac in 2012, where until now he has played a relevant role in the growth of the main satellite structure. from Ducati , with whom he created a strong bond.

Before signing for KTM, Guidotti evaluated other alternatives, such as Suzuki , which is still unsuccessfully looking for an executive to fill the gap left by Davide Brivio at the end of 2020, when he decided to leave the MotoGP paddock to join the Alpine team, in Formula 1 .

“I was a KTM team manager between 2006 and 2009 and then gained valuable experience in another series before returning to MotoGP. Now I can complete the circle! KTM have always been very ambitious and hungry with their racing programs and we can see that MotoGP is no different; it is incredible what they have achieved in such a short time and there is still much to be done. I am very happy to be back and to be part of this great push to achieve more success”, explains Guidotti in the official statement.

Pit Beirer , KTM’s director of motorsports, is on hand to welcome the Italian.

“It is a pleasure to have Francesco back with us, someone who knows our culture and the KTM way of racing. We wanted to renew the management structure of MotoGP and we believe that your input and ideas will give us a new impetus for our sixth season on the grid. With people like Francesco, Fabiano Sterlacchini, Hervé Poncharal, Jens Hainbach and Aki Ajo, we know we have the best leadership to help us move forward and achieve more MotoGP milestones for the company.”

Guidotti’s arrival is part of the restructuring being carried out by the Mattighofen company and its head, Stefan Pierer , in its MotoGP division, which in the final stretch of the recent season seems to have stalled despite the two victories achieved by Miguel Oliveira , in Montmeló, and Brad Binder , the latter after the South African decided to take the risk of finishing the race with slick tires, despite the tremendous downpour that fell in Spielberg .

In 2020, KTM finished the year with three wins and in fourth position in the classification reserved for manufacturers, one position higher than it has been in 2021, in which it has only won twice.
