Nick Kyrgios starred in one of the images of the day during the ninth day of competition at the Australian Open . The one from Canberra showed his two faces during the quarterfinal match of the doubles draw that faced him, along with Thanasi Kokkinakis, against the couple formed by Tim Puetz and Michael Venus. Kyrgios hit a pitch without coming to mind with the misfortune that went to give a child in the stands. Then came the most human face of the most controversial player on the circuit.

Removed by Daniil Medvedev from the singles draw, Nick Kyrgios is still in action in the doubles draw along with Thanasi Kokkinakis with whom he sealed the ticket to the semifinals of the Australian Open after beating Puetz and Venus (7-5, 3-6, 6 -3). The meeting left one of the images of the day in a sample of the most tender face of Kyrgios, usual agitator of the circuit with his gestures or statements. In one of Kokkinakis’ service turns, they called him bad with the first serve and Kyrgios, at the net, hit the ball hard. An action that did not come to mind and that had the misfortune of ending up hitting a child who was watching the game from the stands.

Nick Kyrgios’s face was a poem when he saw that the one who had received the ball was a child, who was crying while his mother tried to comfort him. In the midst of the commotion, the tennis player from Canberra made a most noble gesture, not hesitating to give him a racket to compensate and turned the little boy’s tears into a smile.

The match ended up being won by the Australian couple to advance to the semifinals, a round in which they will now face the Spanish Marcel Granollers and the Argentine Horacio Zeballos, who continue without giving up a set during this Australian Open 2022.
